On Golden Pond

The play that inspired the Oscar Award Winning Movie, On Golden Pond is the love story of Norman and Ethel Thayer who have spent every summer of their lives in Maine on Golden Pond.  They are ready for a quiet summer in Maine when their daughter, Chelsea, arrives and asks her parents to look after her fiancee’s 13 year old son, Billy.  Norman isn’t too sure about Billy but the boy quickly becomes the grandson that he and Ethel have longed for. Norman takes Billy fishing, shares his love of good books and in return Billy gives Norman an education in being a teenager.  They spend a perfect Maine summer together but all good things must come to an end.  Billy teaches Norman how to talk to his estranged daughter, Chelsea.  In the Fall, Norman and Ethel know the years have been good and hope for another summer On Golden Pond.
