BANGOR, ME–Penobscot Theatre Company is pleased to announce the hiring of Kathryn Ravenscraft as Director of Development and Communications. Kathryn will work in partnership with Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport to drive the organization’s continued growth. She will be chiefly responsible for the design and implementation of all fundraising and development activities, marketing and communications initiatives, audience cultivation and community outreach.

Kathryn,  a long-time audience member and fan of Penobscot Theatre Company was most recently the Manager of Resource Development and Communications at United Way of Eastern Maine. There, she specialized in relationship building and storytelling.  She also brings with her a decade of experience in event planning and coordination.  An actor herself, Kathryn has a passion for the art of theatre and is eager to promote the continuation of the study and celebration of the human condition. A transplant to Bangor, she is proud to call the Queen City her home and to see the arts play such an integral part in its evolution.

“As an active part of both the nonprofit community and the theatre community in Bangor, I am thrilled to join the company of Penobscot Theatre Company, ” says Ravenscraft.  “I have always found so much satisfaction in giving back. Theatre has been a huge part of my life for nearly three decades-seeing it, participating in it, and encouraging my children to participate in it.  Having the opportunity to promote the mission of Penobscot Theatre Company and invite others to support our community in this way is a privilege. ”

Producing Artistic Director, Bari Newport says, “I have admired Kathryn both on stage and in a myriad of leadership positions within the community. Her ease with people is matched only by her passion for the region and ambitious, creative wisdom. Kathryn offers the energy and expertise to advance the company’s mission in service to our community.”

Ravenscraft began on March 18, 2019.
