Joins the growing number of performance venues

Bangor, ME – Penobscot Theatre Company is joining other Maine theatres and performance venues and relaxing their Covid Policy. While continuing to follow all Maine CDC, federal, and Actor’s Equity Union guidelines, the policies below will be enacted to keep staff, artist, and patron safety a top priority.

Effective March 21st, 2022:

  • Patrons will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged for patrons, required for Staff.
  • Limited Concessions will be available.

“We have been closely monitoring the Covid situation over the course of this season,” says Executive Director, Jen Shepard, “community safety continues to be a top priority. With current trends we feel that it is time to relax our Covid Protocols. It has been a long 2 years and we have appreciated our community for their support every step of the way. We hope that our supporters and patrons continue to be flexible with us as we navigate these changes in order to maintain a safe environment and continue to provide quality performances for the Greater Bangor region.”

Regardless of policy – Penobscot Theatre Company encourages staff and patrons to stay home if feeling ill. If you’re personally observing stricter protocols, please contact our box office as we may be able to provide further accommodations.

Staff members will continue to be masked at all times and submit to weekly testing. Performers will be unmasked but submit to regular Covid testing twice a week as well as following any additional artist union Covid guidelines.

“We recognize the constant changes in our community and will continue to be flexible as the situation evolves,” reports Tricia A. Hobbs, Acting Artistic Director, “our goal is to provide our patrons and staff with as much transparency and safety as possible. Any updates to our Covid policy will continue to be announced via social media and on our website.”

The updated protocols will take effect in time for Hockey Mom, a new play by Maine Playwright, Travis G. Baker which skates on stage from March 24th – April 16th, 2022

Along with the updated protocols, Penobscot Theatre Company is excited to announce that limited concessions will be available for purchase during performances.
