Hadestown is an operatic folk musical adaptation of the Greek myth: Orpheus and Eurydice.  It is a beautiful tribute to the power of stories and why we tell them again and again.  Set in a desolate, famine ridden town where spring never seems to come or stay, Hermes (Messenger God) sings the story of the musician Orpheus who travels to the underworld to save his beloved Eurydice and how the chaotic Persephone (Goddess of Spring), stoic Hades (God of the Underworld) and other denizens of the underworld influence the journey.

DA is excited to bring back Teen Thespians for another production! Students will be cast in Hadestown and perform the musical on stage at the Bangor Opera House in April.  Class time will be spent developing character choices, learning choreography and music, as well as working with more advanced performing techniques.  Rehearsals will be held at 84 Harlow Street in Bangor.  A perfect class for musical teens looking for a new challenge!

Please note: 6th graders are welcome to participate in both Teen Thespians and Elementary Entertainers.  There is no tuition discount for doing both productions.

Every student belongs in Dramatic Academy.  Scholarship applications and payment plans available upon request.  Please email education@penobscottheatre.org for more information.
