UPDATE 10/14/21:  For patrons who would like to submit a negative COVID test, they must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test conducted within 48 hours of the performance start time or a negative COVID-19 rapid (antigen) test within 12 hours of the performance start time. This includes children under 12 who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated.

In preparation for Season 48, Penobscot Theatre Company announced that it is joining other Maine theatres and performance venues in implementing a Covid Policy. While continuing to follow all Maine CDC, federal, and Actor’s Equity Union guidelines, the policies below will be enacted to keep staff, artist, and patron safety a top priority.
Effective immediately:
• All patrons must provide proof of vaccination (with final dose 14 days prior to performance) OR a negative COVID test within the past 48 hours prior to entering and attending public performances at the Bangor Opera House.
• Children under eligible vaccination age must have a negative test and be masked at all times
• Regardless of vaccination status, all patrons must remain masked from entry to exit.

Penobscot Theatre Company invites all patrons to provide proof of vaccination prior to their scheduled visit to the theatre. A physical card or photocopy can be brought to the Box Office anytime during business hours (Monday- Friday 9am to 6pm). Vaccinated patrons will only need to submit proof of vaccination once. For patrons who would like to submit a negative COVID test, they should get tested 48 hours prior to the show they plan to see. Any verified Covid test will be accepted (PCR or Antigen). A new negative test will need to be provided prior to each visit outside of the initial 48 hour window.

Regardless of vaccination – Penobscot Theatre Company encourages staff and patrons to stay home if feeling ill.

Staff members have made the decision to be vaccinated and will be masked at all times within the building. Per artistic union guidelines, performers of eligible age must be vaccinated and will be unmasked during performances. All employees and performers will be Covid-tested as needed throughout the season.

In an effort to make the Bangor Opera House safer, Penobscot Theatre Company purchased the highest level of HEPA filters for our HVAC system that are replaced every 3 months. The HVAC system is serviced and cleaned every 6 months with the most recent service in August 2021. Additional air purifiers have been installed in the dressing rooms and concession areas with filters to be changed periodically.
