The Goonies

May 1 | 6:30
The 1985 Classic at The Bangor Opera House

On May 1st at 6:30pm, Penobscot Theatre Company will transform the Bangor Opera House back into a movie theater.  Get your tickets at the box office, grab popcorn and candy then settle in to watch 1985’s The Goonies! The Movie Night event is a part of PTC’s celebration of their landmark 50th Season.

“We’ve heard many stories from patrons about seeing movies at the Opera House.  It’s a part of the past of Bangor and  why the Opera House holds a special place in the hearts of many Bangoreans,” says Executive Director Jen Shepard.  “So many folks tell us about coming here as children to see movies, first kisses in the theater and great memories of gathering here to hear a great story. We knew we had to include a movie night as part of our 50th Season celebration.”

The Goonies is about a band of adventurous kids who take on the might of a property developing company which plans to destroy their home to build a country club. When the children discover an old pirate map in the attic, they follow it into an underground cavern in search of lost treasure but come up against plenty of dangerous obstacles along the way. The Goonies is rated PG and runs 114 mins.

The concessions stand will have popcorn and candy available for purchase and the Stage Door will be open before and after the movie.

Movie Night is a Pay What you Wish event so donations will be taken at the door.
