Penobscot Theatre Company seeks a dynamic, creative, results-oriented leader to drive the organization’s continued growth as executive director. Reporting to the board of directors and working in close partnership with the producing artistic director, this individual is responsible for the design and implementation of all fundraising and development activities; marketing and communications initiatives; audience cultivation and community outreach; financial planning; stewardship of the company’s real estate and other assets; and legal, regulatory and union rule compliance. The company’s business manager, marketing director and front-of-house staff report directly to the executive director in a spirit of collaboration that extends across the organization.

Penobscot Theatre Company has experienced significant growth over the past six years, expanding its mainstage season, growing its educational programming, and presenting additional events between productions. The breadth of activity and the company’s steadfast commitment to quality require energetic leadership. The next executive director must adapt quickly to the rhythm of the company and the beat of the community to ensure the efficient internal operations and broad-based external support necessary to advance its mission.
